Why does love find us instead of us finding love?

I know you can’t just stay at home and expect it to come knocking at your door but where did this idea of love finding us come from and is it true?

Often if we quit looking for love and just relax and learn to enjoy our lives as a single person… When you least expect it you can find love knocking on your door. Often happiness and contentment will draw others near us.
